Escare runs a part-time Youth Service that offers regular group catch-ups, information, referrals, advocacy, one to one assistance and recreational activities to young "at risk" people, aged between 12-18 years, in Esperance.
The service offers Case Management (One to One). Workers strive to offer young people opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge and connection within the Esperance community.
Escare Youth Service has an arrangement (MOU) with Crossroads West where the Escare Youth worker case manages and supports young people in Esperance who are currently in care, leaving care or have already left care. For more information, click here.
Opportunity for young people 12-16 years, to improve food literacy and cooking skills that provide families meals. Dardy Club commenced in 2016 when a dad from the community had a vision for young people which would help build strong families. A space where young people are part of a team who cook then sit down together and yarn over a meal.
“The heart of the community is the people…we need to come together to make the family and the community stronger …love for food and healthy meals helps to make things strong” Mr A. Penny – instigator of Dardy Cooking Club 2016.
In 2019 Seawater Families Group asked for a program where young people can do fitness to help with mental health and this led to the TNT group. With the great support of the TNT Gym in Esperance, young people attend regular training sessions. Escare was supported with initial funds from WA Police and is now part of our funded Youth service
.
Young women catch up fortnightly to have space where they can catch up and make new friends, learn skills and be part of their community. Activities include arts, going on country and singing in the car.
Escare is committed to embracing diversity and eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of programs we offer. All people are welcome, irrespective of ethnicity, lifestyle choice, faith, sexual orientation and gender identity.
Escare aims to increase the capacity of individuals and families, to assist with daily living challenges, and to enrich community life.
